Frequently asked questions
Should I have my watch serviced every 5 years?
It's a good rule of thumb: for a mechanical watch worn regularly, manufacturers recommend a service every 5 to 7 years, as the lubricants in the movement dry out. If your watch is running well, there's no rush: drop by the workshop, we'll check its accuracy and water resistance and tell you honestly whether a service is needed.
My watch loses 5 minutes a day. Does it need a service?
Not necessarily. A deviation of a few seconds a day is normal for a mechanical watch. Losing several minutes is often caused by a magnetised movement or a timing adjustment, which can be fixed without a full service. However, if the watch hasn't been serviced for more than 5 years, a service is probably needed. Diagnosis at the workshop is free.
What's the difference between a full service and a simple adjustment?
An adjustment fine-tunes the watch's accuracy without dismantling the movement. A full service is complete maintenance: dismantling every part, cleaning, replacing worn parts, lubricating, reassembling, timing and checking water resistance. It's what keeps your watch running for decades.
